We are your partners in health |
We wanted to take the time to share with you exactly what it is that makes Skagit River Chiropractic such a unique experience. The clinic itself has been a part of the community for some time now. It was originally started in 1973. In 1999 Dr. Jason Kitzman became the primary chiropractor and owner. He then began to transform the clinic into the health center that it is today. |

My post operative appointment |
|
March 8, 2008
Friday
Hello Friends,
My post operative appointment was last Thursday. It went very well. I ran into a gentleman who had had surgery on the same day as mine at that follow up appointment. He was hobbling in, using a walker, moving very slowly. I was able to walk into the appointment on my own, stiffly, but upright, and not all that slowly, considering. The surgeon took me off of exclusive bed rest and house arrest.
I am extremely confident that I will be back at the clinic, at least part time, every day on Monday, March 31st. However, he wanted me to take it very slowly. So I continued to stay in bed pretty solidly watching TV and being bored through Monday. Then I decided that was it. I began increasing my activity and decreasing my medication. I am still sleeping about twelve hours a day, but I am out of bed about four hours a day now. I run errands with Maria, Walk around the yard, do light rehab and stretching, and play as much as possible with my baby boy without picking him up. I am extremely confident that I will be back at the clinic, at least part time, every day on Monday, March 31st.

Dr. Jason's wellness update |
February 27, 2008
Wednesday
Hello friends,
I am updating you all on my progress at last. I'm sorry that it has taken me awhile to talk with you all. I wanted to wait until I was actually speaking as myself and not from the pain medication's point of view.
The surgery was 10 days ago. It had been scheduled to start at 7 A.M. but Maria made me take an Altoid. That ended up delaying the surgery for a few hours. Who would of thought one Altoid could cause so much trouble, they MUST be curiously strong!!!
The surgery did end up taking longer then expected because of the severity of the disc problem. It turns out that the disc had been sitting on that spinal vertebral nerve long enough to have adhered to it. This means that normally extricating a piece of disc would mean it is simply removed. In my case the disc had to be slowly and carefully cut away, tiny piece by tiny piece, so as not to cause permanent injury to the nerve.
Thanks to a great and thorough surgeon and colleague DR. Sanford Wright, the surgery seems to be completely successful. Time of course will be the judge, but I am alive, talking, and very occasionally walking. |
